3/4 Inch Bedding Stone Overview

3/4″ stone (also known as CA7 stone) is ideal as bedding stone for underground pipe as well as concrete flatwork. It is also commonly used in ready mix concrete and drainage applications. Without a layer of bedding stone between your concrete slab and the ground, water can get under your slab and cause it to erode. This means you would have to replace it sooner than had you laid the bedding stone beneath it in the beginning. Bedding stone can also prevent cracking in concrete due to the shifting ground and helps you create a more level surface by ensuring pavers (stones made of concrete, brick, porcelain, or natural stone that you often see in landscapes, walkways, or patios) and concrete slabs lay evenly. In fact, it is called bedding stone because it cushions your pavers and slabs from the ground beneath them.

It is crushed stone, meaning that there is no consistency to its shape. Among the many reasons that limestone is great for bedding stone is that it is strong and weather resistant, so you can be sure that your projects will last the test of time. Limestone is also malleable, so you can shape it how you need to. Because Ozinga has many locations across the midwest, we have limestone close to where you need it.
